Ways to Connect an AI Bot to Sendblue

There are three main ways to connect an AI bot to Sendblue. Below is a simple overview of each option and what is required for setup.

1. Connect via API

You can integrate any custom AI bot directly with Sendblue using our API.

  • Use Sendblue’s API to send/receive messages

  • Supports fully custom bot logic

  • Best for teams with engineering resources

2. Connect via GoHighLevel (GHL) – Using GHL’s Native AI Bot

You can use GoHighLevel’s own conversational AI bot with Sendblue as long as Sendblue is set as your default SMS provider.

Requirements:

  • Set Sendblue as the Default SMS Provider in GHL

  • Use the GHL “Send SMS” action in your automations

  • Do not use Sendblue actions for these AI flows (the GHL bot won’t trigger)

Once Sendblue is the default SMS provider, all SMS in your GHL account will automatically route through Sendblue.

3. Connect via CloseBot (Inside GoHighLevel)

You can also run AI conversations using CloseBot inside GHL.

Notes:

  • Sendblue does not need to be the default SMS provider

  • You can use either GHL SMS actions or Sendblue actions

  • Make sure CloseBot is configured correctly on their side

This option gives more flexibility if you prefer an external AI system.
