Set Sendblue as Default SMS Provider
Last updated: December 11, 2025
Overview
Setting Sendblue as your Default SMS Provider in GoHighLevel (GHL) ensures that all SMS actions originate from your Sendblue number. However, this change affects existing workflows and previous conversations, so proceed with caution.
Requirements
This is only possible if you have the Agency access in GoHighLevel. If you do not have access, you will need to contact the Agency Admin.
Benefits
Having Sendblue as your default SMS provider allows you to:
Message leads from your Sendblue line in the SMS communication channel within a conversation. This is more convenient than switching to the iMessage tab.
All SMS Workflow Actions will send from the Sendblue line so you don't need to individually replace each action in each workflow.
Important Considerations
All SMS Actions in GHL workflows will come from your Sendblue number.
All previous conversations will start a new conversation with the lead from your Sendblue number.
We recommend using the iMessage action for new leads for 1-2 weeks before switching to Sendblue as the default provider. This gradual transition helps prevent disruptions and loss of leads.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Access Your GHL Sub-Account Settings
Navigate to the Settings tab within your GHL Sub-Account.

Step 2: Open Phone Numbers Section
Click on Phone Numbers in the settings menu.

Step 3: Modify Advanced Settings
Locate Advanced Settings.

Change the Default SMS Provider to Sendblue iMessage.

Step 4: Save Your Changes
Click Save to confirm the update.
Step 5: Disable Previous SMS Automations
Ensure all old SMS automations are turned off to prevent duplicate messages.
Avoid sending excessive messages, which could trigger spam reports and get your number blocked.
Warning: Avoid SMS Blasting
Do NOT set Sendblue as your default provider if you use workflows for SMS blasting.
Mass SMS blasts can lead to Apple blocking your number.
Warning: Do not set Sendblue as your default provider if you have additional workflows for SMS blasting. This will get your number blocked by Apple.
