Customer-Facing Guide
Overview
Sendblue status icons help you understand where a message is in the send process. The most important distinction is between pending, sent, delivered, and read.
Common status meanings
| Status / Icon | What it means | What it does not necessarily mean |
|---|---|---|
| Airplane / Pending | The message is still pending and has not reached a final send result yet. | It does not automatically mean the line is blocked. |
| Single checkmark / Sent | The message was sent out successfully through the channel. | It does not guarantee the recipient has opened it. |
| Double checkmark / Delivered | The message was delivered successfully. | It does not necessarily mean the recipient read it. |
| Read | The recipient opened the iMessage and the read state flowed back. | This only applies to iMessage, not SMS. |
Delivered vs Read
Delivered means the message reached the recipient successfully.
Read means the recipient opened the iMessage and the read signal came back.
A message can stay delivered for a long time and still be working normally.
If the icon does not match what you expected
Check whether the message was iMessage or SMS.
Check whether the message is still pending or already moved to delivered.
If the dashboard looks stale but the send itself worked, the issue may be visibility/UI rather than delivery.
